Job description
The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) team is looking for an experienced software engineer to enhance internal cloud infrastructure offerings. This role focuses on developing and maintaining key features of a compute control plane service for a high-performance compute platform. The engineer will work on scalability, resource management, and high availability to support both internal and external users. Collaboration with various engineering teams and partners is essential to meet Apple's compute needs.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or related fields with 6+ years of experience, MS with 4+ years of experience, or PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated ability to design, debug, and test complex software systems.
- Experience with software development in distributed systems and platform infrastructure.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Understanding of core operational concepts such as monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- Golang proficiency.
- Experience with Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Zookeeper, and etcd.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the design and development of control plane components for a large-scale multi-site cloud compute platform.
- Write and review code, and generate and review design documentation.
- Participate in software qualifications and rollouts to production clusters.
- Respond to platform issues for same-day resolution as part of a rotation.
- Work with a wide range of software and hardware engineering teams across Apple to support their workflows.
- Engage closely with partners and customers to clarify Apple's compute needs.
- Maintain a high quality standard expected of Apple products.
