The Range & Efficiency Development Engineer at Rivian plays a crucial role in supporting the R&E Attributes process during vehicle validation. This position involves test planning, vehicle preparation, and data analysis, focusing on optimizing vehicle efficiency and performance. • Hands-on knowledge of dynamometer testing and coastdown testing is a plus.
• Capability to manage multiple test activities in parallel for different programs.
• Working knowledge of vehicle communication network systems such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
• Experience in 1D simulation, data analysis, and test scripting/automation using C/C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience in debugging and resolving hardware and software issues at the vehicle level.
• Ability to instrument a vehicle and operate data acquisition systems such as CANalyzer and Hioki.
• Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
• A strong desire to create the very best product as part of a capable team.
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, with a preference for a Master's or PhD.

• Execute vehicle level static and dynamic efficiency test activities per test plans developed in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Conduct 1D vehicle level simulations to optimize vehicle powertrain efficiency, aerodynamics, thermal strategies, and tire rolling resistance.
• Document findings and recommendations for range and efficiency improvements, providing actionable insights for future product iterations.
• Run vehicle test procedures using hub and chassis dynamometer and complete post-processing and data analysis.
• Instrument vehicles with necessary data acquisition hardware for data collection.
• Work closely with software and hardware teams to ensure representative vehicles are being tested.
• Retrieve, store, and share logged data from tests with different teams.
