Job description

Rivian is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Staff Radar DSP Engineer to join a cross-functional team focused on defining the signal processing architecture for next-generation 4D imaging RADAR. The role requires deep expertise in radar signal processing and the ability to design and deliver algorithms that enhance detection and perception performance. The engineer will collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and perception teams to bring the DSP pipeline into production. This position offers the opportunity to shape the algorithmic roadmap and drive performance to state-of-the-art KPIs.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on signal processing or radar systems.
  • 8+ years of experience developing signal processing algorithms and DSP pipelines for RADAR systems.
  • Deep expertise in radar signal processing fundamentals including waveform design, range-Doppler processing, and digital beamforming.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing detection and tracking algorithms.
  • Proven ability to design DSP pipelines that meet real-time, low-latency constraints.
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ for algorithm modeling and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize signal processing algorithms and DSP pipeline for high-performance 4D imaging RADAR.
  • Define and drive the radar processing chain architecture including waveform design and beamforming.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap for achieving industry-leading KPIs in radar performance.
  • Develop and optimize core algorithms for detection, tracking, and point-cloud generation.
  • Design and implement real-time, compute-efficient DSP pipelines for embedded hardware.
  • Build high-fidelity simulation and algorithm validation frameworks to characterize performance.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to develop deep learning-based radar perception models.
  • Partner with hardware and systems engineering teams to co-optimize the DSP pipeline.
  • Drive performance characterization and validation of algorithms against system-level requirements.
  • Mentor and collaborate with DSP engineers to establish best practices for algorithm development.

Benefits

  • Employees at Rivian are often offered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP and potential RSU grants, performance bonuses, and generous time off including paid parental and sick leave. Perks can include 24/7 mental-health coaching and therapy, Hinge Health for Anthem enrollees, tuition assistance and professional development, plus on-site food and a wide range of employee discounts on items like computers, mobile phones, home loans, and pet care.
