Job description

The Sr. RFIC - PLL Design Engineer will join Apple's wireless silicon development team, focusing on the design and validation of radio transceivers integrated into wireless SoCs. This role is critical in driving the development of state-of-the-art wireless connectivity solutions for Apple's products. The engineer will contribute to the design of analog and digital PLL solutions and ensure their successful mass production. The position requires collaboration with various engineering teams to translate system requirements into circuit specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree.
  • Ph.D. degree is preferred.
  • Experienced in design and development of Analog and Digital PLLs and LOGEN for high performance applications.
  • Hands-on experience in designing PLL building blocks such as TDC, Digital Filters, Sigma Delta Modulators, Pre-scalers, MMD, DCO/VCOs, and PFD/CP.
  • Understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuit design concepts.
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal mode verification methodology including SystemVerilog and AMS.
  • Experience in PLL and LOGEN silicon characterization and debug.
  • Hands-on experience in modeling, analysis, and design of noise/spur cancellation techniques in PLLs.
  • Familiarity with various RF transceiver architectures and their trade-offs.
  • Familiarity with timing analysis tools such as Nanotime and Primetime.
  • Direct experience in designing and bringing into mass production wireless transceivers in deep sub-micron RFCMOS technology.
  • Experienced in Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre RF, Matlab, EM simulation tools like EMX and HFSS.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of analog and digital PLL solutions for wireless SoCs.
  • Drive PLL solutions to mass production for Apple's Wireless Connectivity products.
  • Collaborate with system architects to translate system requirements into circuit requirements at the IC level.
  • Work with the digital design group to optimize the partition between digital and analog components.
  • Provide comprehensive timing requirements for the designs.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
