The Sensing Product Design team at Apple is seeking a talented mechanical engineer to develop innovative sensing technologies for Apple products. This role involves working within a multifunctional team to create design concepts and ensure the successful integration of sensing technology into Apple's product portfolio. The engineer will focus on engineering analysis, documentation, and collaboration with external vendors. • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience is required.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics.
• 3D CAD experience is required, with Siemens NX CAD fluency preferred.
• Experience with high volume mass production or consumer electronics is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with 3D Printers, CNC Mills, Lathes, and/or other hand fabrication methods is preferred.
• Experience in GD&T, Tolerance Analysis, Statistical Analysis, and Design of Experiments is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology.
• Generate design concepts and conduct engineering analysis and documentation.
• Identify design tradeoffs and risks to choose viable paths forward.
• Apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early.
• Run tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances.
• Drive processes to meet Apple's high cosmetic standards.
• Support external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis during testing.
• Travel internationally between 10% and 20% to support vendors.
