Job description

The Technical Services & Manufacturing Science (TSMS) Scientist at Elanco is responsible for providing operational and technical support for the monoclonal antibody manufacturing facility in Elwood, Kansas. This role involves being a subject matter expert in mAb products and processes, engaging in tech transfer, scale-up, and process optimization. The scientist will collaborate with various teams to ensure successful execution of manufacturing processes and contribute to continuous improvement activities. The position requires hands-on experience in biopharmaceutical production and a strong understanding of cGMP standards.

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Bio/Pharmaceutical Technology, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Hands-on experience with chromatography, bioreactor operation, and tangential flow filtration.
  • Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical production processes and working knowledge of cGMP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution and troubleshooting of upstream and/or downstream manufacturing processes for biologics.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Development, and Quality teams in technical studies and investigations.
  • Provide on-floor support during manufacturing campaigns, including troubleshooting and deviation investigations.
  • Use scientific and statistical analysis tools to improve process understanding and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Author and review technical documents, including batch records, SOPs, and risk assessments.
  • Assist in implementing changes through the change control system.
