Job description
The Precision Mechanical Design Engineer at KLA will focus on designing and developing next-generation precision motion systems for advanced semiconductor equipment. This hands-on engineering role requires a passion for mechanical design and the ability to tackle complex engineering challenges. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to influence technical direction and contribute to key design decisions. The position is part of KLA's Global Products Group, which is dedicated to innovation in semiconductor manufacturing.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree with 3 years of related work experience, Master's degree with 6 years, or Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related work experience.
- Deep understanding of precision machine design and motion system architecture.
- Experience with precision positioning systems, flexures, precision mechanisms, or high-performance automation equipment.
- Strong analytical foundation with expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Structural Dynamics, Vibration Analysis, and Thermal Analysis.
- Advanced CAD proficiency in Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or similar software.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop next-generation precision motion systems used in advanced semiconductor equipment.
- Own designs from concept through prototype, test, and product implementation.
- Perform mechanical analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA), structural dynamics, vibration analysis, and thermal analysis.
- Apply principles of precision engineering including kinematic constraint, flexure design, thermal stability, tolerance analysis, and precision mechanisms.
- Create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation.
- Design, procure, assemble, test, and refine prototype motion systems.
- Collaborate with systems, controls, manufacturing, and physics teams to solve complex multidisciplinary challenges.
- Influence technical direction and contribute directly to key design decisions.
