Job description

The Principal Engineer role at Intel focuses on designing scalable, high-performance silicon by shaping standard cell library strategies and driving circuit innovation. This position requires deep circuit expertise to influence library architecture and design methodology across CPU, GPU, and emerging architectures. The role is critical in balancing power, performance, and area (PPA) while enabling product teams to accelerate their development processes. The engineer will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate with various teams to optimize solutions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience with foundation IP design and advanced semiconductor technology.
  • In-depth understanding of MOSFET electrical characteristics and transistor device level physics.
  • Experience with standard cell characterization tools and Spice circuit simulations.
  • Expertise in low-power, high-performance circuit techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Shape standard cell library strategy, including content definition and cell selection.
  • Drive circuit innovation for high-performance and low-voltage operation.
  • Lead PPA and Vmin optimization efforts across performance, power, and area.
  • Directly interface with key Intel foundry customers to understand technology gaps.
  • Guide and mentor circuit designers to improve design quality and methodology.
