Join Rivian as a Sr. Battery Engineer within the ESS Product Excellence team in Tustin, CA. Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Battery, Automotive, Aerospace, or related industries with exposure to HV battery systems.
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automotive.
- Previous experience with product launches, production schedules, and release engineering.
- Mechanical engineering experience is required, with electronics or controls experience being a plus.
- Strong understanding of HV battery system architecture and field issue root cause analysis.
Responsibilities
- Drive sustaining engineering for in-production HV battery systems.
- Serve as a technical expert for HV battery packs in series production.
- Act as a key liaison between various teams to drive durable solutions to battery issues.
- Analyze field, warranty, and ongoing reliability test data to detect trends and characterize failure modes.
- Lead root cause investigations for HV battery-related field and service issues.
- Partner with Service Engineering to define and validate diagnostic strategies and service procedures.
- Provide lessons learned and DFM feedback for current and future battery programs.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve build robustness and remanufacturing flows.
- Partner with new product design teams to inform requirements and test strategies for upcoming battery platforms.
- Create and maintain system-level documentation connecting observed issues back to design and process controls.
