Job description
The Engineering Manager at Claris International Inc., an Apple company, will lead a team of database engineers focused on designing and delivering robust data platforms for client-facing solutions. This role combines deep database architecture expertise with hands-on delivery to ensure projects are executed on time and with high quality. The manager will work closely with various engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable and resilient data architectures. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the technical lifecycle of FileMaker Server and ensuring operational excellence across distributed environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in hands-on database or data engineering roles.
- 2+ years of experience leading technical teams delivering client-facing systems or production database solutions.
- Experience designing scalable architectures across Server, Client, WebDirect, APIs, and cloud or on-premises deployments.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical engineering teams.
- Experience with the FileMaker platform, including Server, Pro, WebDirect, and Data API.
- Knowledge of modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with enterprise-scale database performance tuning, security frameworks, and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and delivery of mission-critical server and FileMaker platform technologies.
- Translate client requirements into scalable and secure technical designs.
- Own the end-to-end technical lifecycle of FileMaker Server, including schema design and data modeling.
- Drive technical direction for core platform engineering features.
- Ensure platform capabilities are engineered for scalability and high availability.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for production databases.
- Coach and develop team members while fostering an inclusive environment.
