Job description
This role is for a security engineer within Amazon's Device & Services Security team, focusing on identifying security issues in embedded systems and low-level software. The position involves collaboration with software development teams to enhance security measures while developing innovative services. The role supports Amazon's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, Zoox, and other organizations within the DSS portfolio. The engineer will drive continuous improvement in security policies, systems, and tools to protect critical data and infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or experience in IT Security.
- 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
- 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating tasks using command line tools.
- Knowledge of industry-based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
- Experience with AWS products and services.
- Experience performing security activities across various phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience in application security frameworks, incident response, secure infrastructure, penetration testing, or secure software development.
- Experience supporting a security program for a robotics or automotive company.
- Compliance fluency in NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, or automotive-adjacent frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain threat models for various software projects.
- Conduct manual and automated secure code reviews primarily in Java, Python, and Javascript.
- Develop security automation tools.
- Perform design reviews and risk assessments for new or existing production infrastructure.
- Enhance existing systems to detect misconfigurations within large deployments.
- Provide security training and outreach for internal development teams.
- Offer security architecture and design guidance.
- Independently solve security problems requiring novel methods or approaches.
- Influence team and partner processes, priorities, and choices to improve outcomes.
