Job description
The Thermal Design & Validation Engineer will be part of AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering team, focusing on designing, simulating, validating, and qualifying liquid cooling solutions for next-generation AI and Data Center GPU products. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure high-performance and reliable cooling solutions. The engineer will leverage their expertise in thermal management and liquid cooling systems to tackle complex challenges. A hands-on approach and effective communication across global teams are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Expertise in liquid cooling systems and electronics thermal management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause skills.
- Experience with heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and electronics cooling.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo and/or SolidWorks.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop cold plates and liquid cooling components for AMD Data Center GPU platforms.
- Run CFD simulations and 1D flow network models to optimize thermal performance.
- Perform thermal-mechanical analysis of cold plate assemblies to ensure performance and reliability.
- Plan and execute validation for cold plates and full liquid cooling systems.
- Correlate test data with simulation and drive root-cause analysis for issues.
