The Staff Software Engineer will lead the technical direction for DoorDash's event streaming platform within the Storage organization. This role focuses on solving complex architectural problems and driving technical strategy across multiple teams. The engineer will work on modern streaming systems, including Kafka, and will be responsible for ensuring the platform can handle trillions of events per day. This position requires deep technical expertise and the ability to influence organizational direction without relying on authority.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience operating event streaming systems such as Kafka at scale.
• Strong engineering skills in Java, Go, or a similar language with expertise in concurrency and distributed systems.
• Strong fundamentals in Linux, networking, storage, and JVM-based systems.
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools in the full software development lifecycle.

• Set the multi-year technical vision and architecture for DoorDash's event streaming platform.
• Lead large and ambiguous streaming initiatives end to end.
• Go deep on the internals of Kafka and modern streaming systems to solve organizational problems.
• Own architectural decisions with company-wide impact.
• Debug and resolve complex distributed systems problems in production.
