Job description
This role is for a Software Development Engineer II in the Benefits Engagement Technology and Services (BETS) team at Amazon. The focus is on designing, developing, and delivering AI-powered benefits solutions that enhance employee engagement. The position involves working with distributed systems and utilizing Java and TypeScript on AWS. The ideal candidate will thrive in a small team environment, owning outcomes and tackling complex, greenfield projects.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations

Responsibilities

- Work backwards from the customer to shape the experience based on product design perspective.
- Turn signed-off specifications into working, tested software while collaborating with product experts.
- Direct coding agents and review both human-authored and agent-authored code for correctness.
- Implement and extend validation through simulation tests across realistic customer segments.
- Integrate with regulated systems while ensuring correctness and privacy.
- Propose reusable skills in shared capabilities when manual fixes reveal patterns.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
