The Sensing Product Design team at Apple is seeking a talented mechanical engineer to develop innovative sensing technologies for Apple products. This role involves end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology, working closely with a multifunctional team. • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
• 3D CAD experience is required, with Siemens NX CAD fluency preferred.
• Experience in high volume mass production or consumer electronics is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology.
• Identify design tradeoffs and risks to choose viable paths forward.
• Apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early.
• Run tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances.
• Drive processes to meet Apple's high cosmetic standards.
• Support external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis during testing.
