Job description
The Sensing Product Design team at Apple is seeking a talented mechanical engineer to develop innovative sensing technologies for Apple products. This role involves end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology, working closely with a multifunctional team. The engineer will be responsible for engineering analysis and documentation while ensuring high cosmetic standards. Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
- 3D CAD experience is required, with Siemens NX CAD fluency preferred.
- Experience in high volume mass production or consumer electronics is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology.
- Identify design tradeoffs and risks to choose viable paths forward.
- Apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early.
- Run tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances.
- Drive processes to meet Apple's high cosmetic standards.
- Support external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis during testing.
