The Data Center Plant Engineer, Controls role at Google focuses on maintaining and improving the efficiency of data center systems. • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
• 7 years of experience in Controls/Automation in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.

• Inspect, maintain, and repair data center systems, including servers and network equipment.
• Provide effective leadership for critical system troubleshooting and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Respond to critical data center events and alarms, acting as a point of escalation for operational issues.
• Monitor plant efficiency metrics such as Power Usage Effectiveness and Water Usage Effectiveness.
• Interact with design engineers to bring an operational mindset to discussions about new infrastructure.
