Job description

The Manufacturing Systems Development Engineer role at Amazon Web Services focuses on developing manufacturing test software and diagnostic tools for GPU-based server platforms. The position requires a blend of software development and hardware debugging skills to troubleshoot complex system failures on the manufacturing floor. The engineer will work closely with ODM/CM partners to ensure high-quality production and efficient manufacturing processes. This role is critical for bridging the gap between hardware design and manufacturing execution.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • 5+ years of software development experience with at least one modern language such as Python, C/C++, or Java
  • 3+ years of experience debugging hardware systems including server and accelerator platforms
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems including boot flow and OS-level diagnostics
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware failures in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with ODMs/CMs through the product development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with server hardware architecture including PCIe and NVMe

Responsibilities

  • Debug complex system-level failures at the manufacturing line across various domains
  • Perform root cause analysis to isolate faults across firmware, kernel, and physical layers
  • Troubleshoot Linux boot and runtime failures across x86 and ARM architectures
  • Drive Root Cause Corrective Action for yield detractors and recurring manufacturing failures
  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing test software and diagnostic tools
  • Build automation to enable faster fault isolation and higher first-pass yield
  • Develop and optimize system-level test flows for GPU accelerator platforms
  • Collaborate with hardware design and manufacturing engineering teams to improve processes

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
