The Manufacturing Systems Development Engineer role at Amazon Web Services focuses on developing manufacturing test software and diagnostic tools for GPU-based server platforms. The position requires a blend of software development and hardware debugging skills to troubleshoot complex system failures on the manufacturing floor. The engineer will work closely with ODM/CM partners to ensure high-quality production and efficient manufacturing processes. This role is critical for bridging the gap between hardware design and manufacturing execution.
Requirements
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
- 5+ years of software development experience with at least one modern language such as Python, C/C++, or Java
- 3+ years of experience debugging hardware systems including server and accelerator platforms
- Experience with Linux/Unix systems including boot flow and OS-level diagnostics
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware failures in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with ODMs/CMs through the product development lifecycle
- Familiarity with server hardware architecture including PCIe and NVMe
Responsibilities
- Debug complex system-level failures at the manufacturing line across various domains
- Perform root cause analysis to isolate faults across firmware, kernel, and physical layers
- Troubleshoot Linux boot and runtime failures across x86 and ARM architectures
- Drive Root Cause Corrective Action for yield detractors and recurring manufacturing failures
- Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing test software and diagnostic tools
- Build automation to enable faster fault isolation and higher first-pass yield
- Develop and optimize system-level test flows for GPU accelerator platforms
- Collaborate with hardware design and manufacturing engineering teams to improve processes
