The IDE II will own design packages from concept through to construction-ready documentation, contributing to the evolution of design standards. The team is dedicated to transforming Amazon's material handling capabilities through innovative engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in material handling equipment system design, industrial engineering, or systems integration.
  • Experience designing sub-system level material handling solutions at LOD 200–300.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or CREO.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with automated material handling equipment and process design based on Lean Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design major portions of material handling systems for ARS Gen14 or SSD facilities.
  • Own FE packages for assigned sub-systems from concept through construction-ready documentation.
  • Develop standard design templates and configuration patterns for reuse across the OMHS portfolio.
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure cross-component integration.
  • Produce equipment specifications for vendor procurement, including detailed RFP technical sections.
  • Participate in vendor technical evaluations and integrator design reviews.
  • Manage design complexity across multiple concurrent projects while maintaining design quality.
  • Develop design validation approaches to prove solutions before construction.
  • Mentor junior IDE team members and contribute to the evolution of OMHS design standards.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
