The Supplier Development Engineering Manager for Mechanical Operations at Google will be responsible for ensuring high-quality hardware products through effective manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate product designs and establish necessary processes and tools. The manager will work closely with vendors to maintain controlled and repeatable manufacturing processes. This position is crucial for integrating components seamlessly to enhance product performance and user experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Operations, Hardware Engineering, Materials or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing specifically surface finishing, CNC, 3D printing, PVD, painting, MIM, polishing and lapping.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing.
- 8 years of experience in people management.
- Experience in mechanical bonding like riveting, press fits, laser welding, and adhesives.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver Google Hardware products to market.
- Provide detailed design for manufacturing reviews of mechanical parts and make recommendations to improve manufacturing processes.
- Use statistical process control and yield studies to validate process capability and drive process improvements.
- Act as the first-level go-to person for identifying suitable manufacturing processes and highlight manufacturability issues.
- Work with Reliability Engineering to set up ongoing reliability test plans for critical manufacturing processes.
