Job description

This role is part of Apple's Silicon Engineering group, focusing on the design and manufacture of high-performance, power-efficient processors. The main responsibility is to ensure timing closure of complex GPU designs used in Apple products. The position involves collaboration with various teams, including Architecture, RTL, and Physical Design, to uphold best design practices. The role offers exposure to all stages of product development, from concept to post-silicon validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in STA and timing closure or physical design.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, and shell scripting.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with EDA tools and exposure to their APIs.
  • Familiarity with STA concepts and understanding of cross-talk, OCV, and noise.
  • Experience in analyzing large volumes of data and generating ECOs.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with RTL and architecture teams to understand physical design constraints related to timing.
  • Work with Synthesis and Physical Design teams to implement optimized designs for power, performance, and timing.
  • Set up all DFT modes and ensure all test features are properly timed.
  • Assemble the top-level design for STA and review all logs and reports for accurate analysis.
  • Create and maintain scripts and automation for high-quality STA reports.
  • Run ECO flows on the design and ensure close timing.
  • Drive and support tapeout activities by running signoff checks for high-quality silicon.
  • Collaborate with CAD and vendors to improve analysis flows and introduce groundbreaking features.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
