The AI Engineer, Principal role at Blackstone Credit & Insurance focuses on assessing and responding to AI-driven disruption risks across the BXCI portfolio. The team works closely with portfolio company leadership to develop strategies that enhance long-term viability through AI integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in AI and machine learning, along with business acumen to guide strategic decisions. This position involves hands-on execution and collaboration throughout the engagement lifecycle.

• 5+ years building AI/ML systems in production environments
• Fluency in foundation models, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, and evaluation frameworks
• Strong Python engineering skills with experience in building APIs and AI-powered applications
• Experience shipping AI-enabled products or features to real users
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and production deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Proficiency in rapidly assessing unfamiliar technical systems and forming defensible architectural views
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for senior audiences

• Assess portfolio companies’ technical reality and translate findings into strategic insights
• Contribute to internal memos and build rapid prototypes to validate proposed strategic moves
• Build and maintain internal tools to enhance team effectiveness
• Lead technical diligence on implementation partners and monitor their delivery during active engagements
• Participate in working sessions with portfolio company teams alongside the AI Executive
