Job description

The Input Devices team is a dedicated group of engineers focused on creating innovative products that enhance the interaction between users and technology. This role involves using mechanical design engineering skills to develop products for the iPad and Mac ecosystems. The team emphasizes customer-centric design, supporting various languages and ergonomic features. Candidates should be passionate problem solvers who thrive in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering design role.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely-related major.
  • Solid engineering fundamentals in statics, strength of materials, kinematics, and mechanism design.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% of the year internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with industrial designers, hardware, software, and technology teams to define product vision.
  • Explore multiple product form factors and develop new product architectures.
  • Define kinematic behaviors to support ergonomic optimization.
  • Integrate mechanisms, sensors, and other electromechanical components.
  • Partner with internal manufacturing teams and external vendors to optimize designs.
  • Ensure design meets requirements through stress and tolerance analysis, DFMEA, prototyping, testing, and failure analysis.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
