Job description

The Power Validation Engineer role at Annapurna Labs focuses on power validation for next-generation machine learning accelerators that support AWS's cloud infrastructure. The position involves working in a dynamic environment with a team of experts to address complex technical challenges. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that AI/ML accelerators meet power targets and efficiency goals throughout the product development lifecycle. This includes collaboration with various teams and hands-on power measurement and validation tasks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in power characterization, power delivery validation, or power architecture verification for high-performance digital systems
  • Strong understanding of DVFS flows, power control schemes, peak power management, and di/dt handling techniques
  • Proficiency with power measurement instrumentation such as DC power analyzers, current probes, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, and VNA/TDR for PDN impedance characterization
  • Experience applying data analysis and visualization techniques to interpret power measurement data and drive optimization decisions
  • Experience with power integrity simulation tools like ANSYS RedHawk or Cadence Voltus
  • Experience with Machine Learning Hardware/Software Architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Knowledge of voltage regulator design and tuning
  • Experience validating power management firmware on custom ASIC/SoC platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive power validation strategies and detailed test plans covering sequencing, DVFS, peak power, di/dt, and stress testing from silicon bring-up to product release
  • Characterize peak power consumption and transient droop under real ML training workloads across PVT corners
  • Conduct hands-on power measurements and debug in the lab using DC power analyzers, current probes, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, and VNA/TDR
  • Validate power management algorithms, DVFS transitions, thermal throttling, and power capping mechanisms on silicon
  • Correlate silicon power measurements against pre-silicon power models and drive model-to-silicon feedback with architecture teams
  • Build automated power regression frameworks, dashboards, and anomaly detection to track power across steppings at scale
  • Collaborate across power architecture, design, firmware, and software teams to triage power anomalies and drive root cause analysis to closure
  • Support production systems in AWS data centers and address power-related field issues as they arise

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
