The Software Development Engineer will join the AWS Identity team, focusing on designing, building, and operating distributed systems for authentication and authorization at scale. This role involves tackling complex challenges at the intersection of security, distributed systems, and customer experience. The engineer will ensure that AWS customers can securely manage access to their resources. The position requires collaboration with other engineers and contributions to technical strategy and architecture.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design and implement core identity infrastructure components including control plane APIs and deployment orchestration systems
• Design and implement scalable, highly available services that process millions of requests per second
• Develop monitoring, observability, and operational tooling to ensure production reliability
• Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions for session management and security integrations
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence through code reviews and design reviews
