The Software Development Engineer will join the AWS Identity team to design, build, and operate distributed systems for authentication and authorization at scale. This role involves tackling complex challenges at the intersection of security, distributed systems, and customer experience. The engineer will ensure AWS customers can securely manage access to their resources. The position requires collaboration with other engineers and contributions to technical strategy.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead
• 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design and implement core identity infrastructure components including control plane APIs and deployment orchestration systems
• Develop scalable, highly available services that process millions of requests per second
• Create monitoring and operational tooling to ensure production reliability
• Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions for identity management and security integrations
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence through reviews and best practices
