The Senior Platform Engineer role at Parametric focuses on partnering with cloud-native application development teams to enhance software delivery and developer experience. This position is part of the Platform Engineering team, which is crucial for developer enablement and system reliability throughout the Software Development Lifecycle. The engineer will create reusable components and workflows while fostering an environment of continuous experimentation. The role also involves mentoring team members and contributing to the evolution of cloud-focused architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related area of study
- 5+ years of hands-on Platform Engineering experience with a proven track record of leadership
- 5+ years of experience with cloud-native solution architectures and related platform support
- Expertise in automation strategies for cloud-native solutions
- Proven experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform
- Experience using GitHub and engineering YAML-based CI/CD pipelines
- Experience implementing and operating container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
- Expertise in scripting with Python, BASH, and PowerShell
Responsibilities
- Function as a subject matter expert in delivering and operating reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications
- Work with development teams to design, document, create, and maintain highly available systems
- Design, implement, and manage centralized monitoring solutions that provide actionable feedback to development teams
- Partner with application development teams to create flows, processes, automation, and tooling
- Create an environment of continuous experimentation and learning
- Contribute to the evolution of cloud-focused architecture to increase flexibility and ease of use
- Follow technology trends and recommend improvements to technology when appropriate
- Mentor new or less senior members of the team
- Share experience, knowledge, and ideas to improve processes and productivity
- Provide tier 2 and 3 escalations for related issues and questions
