Job description
The Thermal Engineer will be part of the Data Center Platform Engineering Group at AMD, focusing on thermal design, validation, and technology development for Data Center GPU products. This role requires collaboration with various engineering teams, including silicon design and manufacturing, to deliver innovative thermal solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment. The position emphasizes the importance of teamwork and technical expertise in thermal management.
Requirements
- MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics with emphasis on electronics thermal management.
- Experience with CFD for liquid cooled systems using Icepak or similar tools is required.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or Creo is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at engineering and executive levels.
Responsibilities
- Design thermal solutions to enable AMD's next generation of Datacenter GPUs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design thermal-mechanical solutions from chip level to system level.
- Contribute to the overall product cycle from conceptualization through mass production.
- Conduct thermal validation of thermal-mechanical hardware at chip, card, and system level.
- Identify and investigate novel thermal technologies for alignment with the AMD product roadmap.
