The Substation Studies Engineer at Jacobs is responsible for conducting power system analyses to support the planning, design, operation, and expansion of transmission and distribution substations. This role involves developing and validating system models, performing technical studies, and evaluating equipment performance. The engineer will work closely with team members across North America and globally to ensure reliable and compliant operation of power systems. The position offers opportunities to engage in various projects throughout their lifecycle, from technical proposals to client presentations.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies.
• Experience with power system studies using ETAP, SKM, and PSCAD or other equivalents.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on achieving results.
• Team player with great interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel within North America.

• Perform power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
• Develop and review power system models to support substation planning and design.
• Support substation design projects by validating equipment ratings and technical requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and present study results to stakeholders.
• Support system studies projects throughout their lifecycle from proposal to execution and close-out.
• Collaborate with team members across North America and globally.
