This internship position at Tesla is for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, focusing on power electronics. Interns will work closely with the Power Electronics team on next-gen power converters for various applications, including vehicle chargers and energy storage systems. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and hands-on experience in EMI filter design and compliance testing. Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Fundamental knowledge of power electronics topologies such as AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC
- Familiarity with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools
- Hands-on experience with EMI filter designs for power converters
- Strong understanding of conducted and radiated noise sources and mitigation techniques
- Experience with PCB layout supervision for EMC optimization
- Thorough knowledge of EMC test standards such as FCC and EN
- Experience with measuring equipment including spectrum analyzers and signal generators
- Awareness of UL and CE electrical safety and EMC requirements relevant to power converters
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical and mechanical design engineers
- Debug issues and implement fixes during EMC testing to ensure product compliance
- Carry out EMI filter design and provide direction for schematic and circuit board layout
- Ensure EMC compliance at the product level through effective design and integration
- Participate in the entire product development cycle from concept to manufacturing introduction
