Job description

This internship position at Tesla is for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, focusing on power electronics. Interns will work closely with the Power Electronics team on next-gen power converters for various applications, including vehicle chargers and energy storage systems. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and hands-on experience in EMI filter design and compliance testing. Interns will gain valuable technical and professional skills while contributing to critical projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Fundamental knowledge of power electronics topologies such as AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools
  • Hands-on experience with EMI filter designs for power converters
  • Strong understanding of conducted and radiated noise sources and mitigation techniques
  • Experience with PCB layout supervision for EMC optimization
  • Thorough knowledge of EMC test standards such as FCC and EN
  • Experience with measuring equipment including spectrum analyzers and signal generators
  • Awareness of UL and CE electrical safety and EMC requirements relevant to power converters

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical and mechanical design engineers
  • Debug issues and implement fixes during EMC testing to ensure product compliance
  • Carry out EMI filter design and provide direction for schematic and circuit board layout
  • Ensure EMC compliance at the product level through effective design and integration
  • Participate in the entire product development cycle from concept to manufacturing introduction
