As a Software Engineer on Opticaster, you will contribute to optimizing battery charging and discharging to enhance sustainable energy use. Your work will involve building production systems and internal tooling that facilitate safe algorithm changes for a global energy fleet. You will also improve developer workflows using AI tools and work on various software components including Python services, cloud data pipelines, and CI/CD processes. Collaboration with algorithm engineers will be key to developing and operating Opticaster at scale.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and Linux
• Experience building and shipping production software and/or internal developer tooling
• Experience using AI tools to build high-leverage engineering tooling and workflows
• Experience with cloud and data technologies such as AWS, Spark, and Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience owning complex production software through design, implementation, debugging, and operation
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
• Experience with another production language such as C++, Go, Rust, Java, or C# is preferred
• Experience with production systems that have real integration, reliability, or performance constraints is preferred
• Experience with energy systems, on-device or firmware-adjacent environments, or machine learning is preferred

• Build production systems and internal tooling for algorithm changes
