Job description
The role involves developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for Tesla, requiring a hands-on individual with strong engineering skills. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, including Design Engineering and Quality, to ensure vehicle designs meet production standards. This position emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and the ability to lead projects from concept through to full production. The focus is on achieving high-dimensional quality and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working in a Body in White manufacturing environment.
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with AUTOCAD, Catia or similar 3D CAD tools.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Design Engineering to drive Design for Manufacturability.
- Develop process designs for high-volume production lines.
- Take responsibility for achieving dimensional quality targets.
- Drive tooling design and development in accordance with the process plan.
- Participate in the development and review of early project planning documents.
- Lead the development and introduction of processes and equipment for prototype builds.
- Arrange and participate in line design reviews and drive optimization.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and ramp of high-volume production lines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, and efficiency metrics.
- Collect and prepare the final documentation handover package.
