The Data Engineer position within the Gigafactory New Product Introduction team in Nevada focuses on supporting Operations and Process teams at Tesla. The role involves automating production controls, collecting and analyzing data related to operational efficiency, and creating visualization tools for informed decision-making. The successful candidate will engage with advanced statistics and maintain databases to enhance operational excellence for Tesla Energy products. This position requires collaboration with engineers to drive improvements in productivity through data insights.

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, C+, and MATLAB
• Experience with multiple data architecture paradigms including SQL and NoSQL
• Experience with dashboarding and data cleaning tools like Tableau, QlikView, Power Bi, and Alteryx
• Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as SAP, MES, and SCADA
• Ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands with tight deadlines
• Ability to drive the introduction of predictive models to a production environment

• Analyze operations, equipment, process, safety, and quality data to drive improvements in productivity
• Work effectively with engineers to conduct end-to-end analyses from data requirement gathering to modeling
• Monitor key operations and process metrics to understand root causes of changes
• Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques to provide ongoing reports
• Identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and depict the story via dashboards and reports
• Maintain existing data visualizations, data pipelines, and dashboard enhancement requests
• Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases to empower operational excellence
• Perform data quality validations to ensure compliance with business needs and data confidentiality policies
