The role involves setting the technical direction for large-scale ranking and personalization infrastructure, leveraging AI-native approaches. The engineer will work at the intersection of machine learning research and production engineering to enhance user engagement and satisfaction. This position requires collaboration with various teams to align technical strategies and drive improvements in recommendation quality.

• 12+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling production recommendation, ranking, or personalization systems.
• Experience defining technical strategy and architecture for large-scale machine learning systems.
• Experience leading cross-organizational engineering initiatives and influencing technical direction.
• Experience developing and applying machine learning models at scale, including experimentation design.
• Experience identifying and resolving systemic reliability, performance, or correctness issues across distributed machine learning infrastructure.

• Define and drive the multi-year technical vision for recommendation and ranking systems across Meta.
• Identify and solve scalability and quality challenges in large-scale recommendation pipelines.
• Architect extensible and reliable ranking and personalization infrastructure for multiple product teams.
• Develop and apply novel machine learning techniques to recommendation problems.
• Define new metrics and experimentation frameworks for evaluating long-term recommendation quality.
• Drive engineering excellence across recommendation system codebases by establishing quality standards.
• Partner with research, product, data science, and infrastructure teams to align on technical strategy.
• Mentor engineers on recommendation system design and debugging complex issues.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to modernize legacy recommendation infrastructure.
• Serve as a technical authority for leadership on recommendation systems.
