Job description

Tesla is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the development of advanced Electrode manufacturing processes at the Texas Gigafactory. This role involves collaborating with various teams to establish a roadmap for electrode manufacturing and overseeing the transition from concept to high-volume production. The position requires a hands-on approach and strong analytical skills to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing production efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with 5+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly and new equipment development
  • High impact problem solver with experience in data driven root cause analysis and predictive modeling
  • Track record of success in establishing high throughput, highly automated manufacturing lines
  • Experience introducing new equipment and processes from concept to high volume production
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and people management skills
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of electrode manufacturing equipment from concept through installation and production ramp
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for capability and cost reductions
  • Collaborate with production engineering and controls teams to enhance performance and automate processes
  • Setup manufacturing systems for new equipment installation and commissioning
  • Maintain detailed process documentation and findings
  • Proactively mitigate risks through DFMEA and PFMEA documentation
  • Coordinate site readiness activities with factory design and construction teams
  • Lead power-on and commissioning activities of new production lines
  • Execute production automation equipment validation testing
  • Ramp production lines to exceed target yield and uptime
