Job description
Tesla is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the development of advanced Electrode manufacturing processes at the Texas Gigafactory. This role involves collaborating with various teams to establish a roadmap for electrode manufacturing and overseeing the transition from concept to high-volume production. The position requires a hands-on approach and strong analytical skills to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing production efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with 5+ years of engineering leadership experience
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly and new equipment development
- High impact problem solver with experience in data driven root cause analysis and predictive modeling
- Track record of success in establishing high throughput, highly automated manufacturing lines
- Experience introducing new equipment and processes from concept to high volume production
- Demonstrated technical expertise and people management skills
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Drive development of electrode manufacturing equipment from concept through installation and production ramp
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for capability and cost reductions
- Collaborate with production engineering and controls teams to enhance performance and automate processes
- Setup manufacturing systems for new equipment installation and commissioning
- Maintain detailed process documentation and findings
- Proactively mitigate risks through DFMEA and PFMEA documentation
- Coordinate site readiness activities with factory design and construction teams
- Lead power-on and commissioning activities of new production lines
- Execute production automation equipment validation testing
- Ramp production lines to exceed target yield and uptime
