Job description

The Factory Firmware Team is looking for a Firmware Integration Engineer to create software tools for vehicle diagnostics, testing, and validation. This role involves collaborating with development, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth project progression. The engineer will troubleshoot issues, analyze vehicle logs, and develop solutions to complex problems. The position plays a crucial role in the deployment of new firmware to manufacturing, providing insights to enhance software feature development.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Strong scripting skills in at least one common language such as Python or Ruby
  • Experience testing and validating embedded software in electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong experience collaborating with colleagues and communicating complex technical concepts
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think creatively and produce innovative solutions
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with new product introduction and process improvements
  • Experience in high volume automotive manufacturing
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing metrics
  • 2+ years of professional or relevant experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up system level manufacturing processes related to firmware from initial concept to final product
  • Develop software tools for vehicle diagnostics, testing, and validation
  • Integrate vehicle firmware tests in manufacturing and support new program launches
  • Validate firmware in manufacturing through the integration and release of new firmware versions
  • Develop software solutions to bridge manufacturing process gaps and maintain firmware quality
  • Develop and improve tools as well as resolve firmware related issues to support production
  • Influence the end-to-end process of firmware integration into vehicle subsystems within manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot high priority production situations through root cause analysis and implementation of solutions
