The Sr. Process Design Engineer will join the Process Utilities Design team at Tesla, focusing on creating innovative designs for chemical and utility systems integrated with manufacturing and refining plants. This role involves applying engineering fundamentals to solve technical problems and develop detailed designs for various systems. The engineer will lead scope development, produce design documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable codes. The position requires collaboration with modelers to create fabrication detail drawing packages.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in process design, piping design, equipment design, process improvement or operations
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within 3 months is strongly preferred
• Subject matter expertise in applicable codes for process system design such as OSHA requirements and ASME pressure vessel and piping codes
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revisto, Bluebeam, Pipe-Flo, and thermodynamic modeling

• Apply engineering fundamentals and process engineering tools to create detailed designs for various systems
• Lead scope development and produce basis of design documentation for CAPEX estimation and vendor selection
• Complete construction drawings for permit and construction execution
• Develop process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, and 3D layouts
• Generate process engineering calculations and documentation including mass and energy balances and hydraulic analysis
• Specify equipment, piping, valves, and materials of construction per applicable codes
• Model equipment and piping in Revit or collaborate with modelers for fabrication detail drawing packages
