Job description
Tesla is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts for innovative Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) projects in Austin, TX. This role focuses on developing next-generation production infrastructure to enhance manufacturing scale and efficiency. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in CFD analysis and simulation
- Understanding of building load calculation and simulation
- Preferred to be Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) with active NCEES record and ability to acquire State PE license
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Revit
- Understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Professional design experience in a wide range of project types including industrial and mission critical, data centers, high tech/R&D, bio-tech/pharmaceutical and industrial
Responsibilities
- Develop and validate CFD models using ANSYS or other industry-standard software
- Perform CFD simulations for HVAC systems, factories, cleanrooms, and industrial processes to predict airflow, temperature distribution, and pressure drops
- Interpret simulation results and provide actionable design recommendations to improve system performance and energy efficiency
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate CFD findings into design documents and specifications
- Prepare engineering studies, feasibility reports, and technical documentation for CFD analyses
- Provide solutions by using a variety of tools such as Carrier HAP, Revit, and AutoCAD
- Optimize designs through parametric studies and sensitivity analyses
