Job description
The Process Engineer, Incoming Quality, SRT is a key engineering role focused on driving continuous improvement in scrap processes within the Fremont manufacturing ecosystem. This position emphasizes reducing scrap, improving yield, and enhancing operational efficiency through lean methodologies. The engineer will collaborate with various cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and support manufacturing initiatives. This role is critical for sustaining high-quality production standards in the Model 3/Y/Optimus and EOL departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in automotive/robotics assembly, manufacturing operations, or hands-on vehicle repair.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with electromechanical systems, tools, instrumentation, and measurement techniques.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and structured problem-solving.
- Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or Minitab.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement in SRT/MRB/Scrap processes across all Model 3/Y/Optimus and EOL departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, qualify, and track projects that reduce scrap and enhance process reliability.
- Identify optimization opportunities across existing workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce scrap-related costs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing and refining current processes.
- Support Engineering and Manufacturing through Lean initiatives, including material handling optimization and safety protocol enhancements.
- Monitor project progress, timelines, and deliverables using standardized project management tools.
