Job description

As a Project Engineer on the New Product Introduction team, you will serve as the design partner for products in mass production. Your role involves managing CAD updates, design changes, and ensuring production continuity through effective collaboration with various teams. You will be responsible for translating factory needs into design packages that can be approved quickly. This position requires a hands-on approach, spending time on the factory floor and in CAD environments.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5+ years in manufacturing, NPI, launch, or design-support environments
  • Hands-on CAD experience with production drawings and assemblies
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, drawing standards, and design change processes
  • Strong DFM instincts and comfort evaluating designs against factory processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent requests under time pressure
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Structured problem-solving skills and willingness to work on the manufacturing floor

Responsibilities

  • Own factory CAD spins and drawing updates, including GD&T updates and minor design changes
  • Create and advance deviations and design change packages to support production continuity
  • Lead DFM reviews with Manufacturing, Process, Quality, and Design
  • Maintain a clear system of record for factory design requests
  • Prepare complete design packages for Design review and approval
  • Partner with Change Control, NPI, Quality, and suppliers to execute design updates
  • Support root-cause and corrective actions on production and quality issues
  • Improve handoff standards, templates, and workflows between the factory and Design
