Job description
As a member of Tesla's Passive Safety Test team, you will focus on occupant and pedestrian injury testing, active hood deployment calibration, and general impact testing. This role involves planning and executing test programs that support vehicle development and regulatory certification. You will collaborate closely with design and CAE teams to optimize safety performance. Additionally, you will have opportunities to develop skills in adjacent passive safety test areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive passive safety testing or vehicle homologation
- Experience with data acquisition systems (DAS), instrumentation, and test data interpretation
- Familiarity with global homologation and consumer ratings protocols
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical testing tasks
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage safety test programs supporting new vehicle development and regulatory certification
- Communicate test results and safety concerns to internal engineering teams
- Develop, validate, and maintain procedural documentation
- Support test fixture design in CATIA to meet testing requirements
- Execute hands-on testing including test setup, instrumentation, and teardown
- Spearhead lab improvement initiatives focused on execution efficiency and test quality
