Job description
The Data Engineer role at Tesla focuses on developing Inventory Optimization Models to reduce inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolescence. This position is part of the Supply Chain Optimization team, which manages strategic projects for Tesla's Global Distribution Network. The role requires strong collaboration with various teams including Material Planning, Logistics, and Finance. Candidates must possess a strategic mindset and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements
- Degree in Data science, AI, Applied Math, Operations Research, or equivalent experience
- Strong foundation in mathematics, algorithms, and optimization techniques
- Proven hands-on experience designing, deploying, and scaling enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions
- Deep expertise in large language models, autonomous AI agents, and modern AI frameworks
- Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using libraries such as NumPy and TensorFlow
- Hands-on experience developing full-stack applications using Django, Java-based services, and React
- Knowledge of MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy production-grade multi-echelon inventory optimization systems
- Develop and integrate Digital Twin capabilities for inventory visibility and decision support
- Architect and operate end-to-end production ML pipelines to ensure reliable inventory optimization systems
- Design and implement intelligent inventory management agents with various capabilities
- Optimize multi-model architectures to improve forecast accuracy and reduce inventory costs
- Build and execute large-scale simulations to evaluate inventory positioning strategies
- Translate complex quantitative results into clear narratives and visualizations for leadership
