Job description
The AI Platform Integration team is looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to develop safety-critical systems that integrate AI technologies into vehicle functions. This role focuses on ensuring safety and reliability in applications such as autonomous driving and real-time decision-making. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish robust processes and frameworks that meet stringent safety standards. This position offers significant responsibility and visibility within the organization.
Requirements
- Experience designing safety-critical systems, preferably in AI or autonomous systems contexts.
- First-hand experience with automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 and relevant tools like HARA and FMEA.
- Deep technical expertise in AI system integration, embedded systems, real-time software development, or vehicle control systems.
- Experience with testing and validating safety-critical software, particularly in AI or machine learning applications.
- Experience designing systems with stringent availability and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in software development leveraging agentic workflows is preferred.
- Experience in C++, Python, or similar programming is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define integration strategies and evaluate architectural trade-offs.
- Lead functional safety activities such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments, and Safety Requirements definition.
- Leverage simulation, SIL/HIL testing, and fleet data to validate safety assumptions and monitor real-world performance.
- Implement safety-critical software to meet requirements in system architecture, focusing on monitoring and fault detection.
- Ensure follow-through on design and integration aspects across various teams, establishing milestones from concept to deployment.
- Shape the safety concept validation plan to ensure high-quality test cases for AI systems.
