Job description
Tesla is seeking a motivated Chemical Engineer to develop and scale up manufacturing processes for its battery cell production. This role involves working within a cross-functional engineering team to enhance battery performance and optimize manufacturing efficiency. The position offers the chance to contribute significantly to Tesla's innovative products in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Candidates will engage in process development from concept to full-scale production.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in process development engineering, chemical engineering, or manufacturing engineering
- Experience with industrial mixing, dry powder handling and conveyance, or industrial chemical processing
- Demonstrated capabilities in manufacturing process development for new and unique products
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process development
- Demonstrated experience in data driven root cause analysis utilizing statistical software such as JMP or similar
Responsibilities
- Drive development of new manufacturing processes from proof of concept through to full-scale production
- Characterize existing processes and improve process robustness
- Execute DoEs to optimize process conditions
- Conduct analysis and presentation of experimental data
- Drive process commissioning on new production lines
- Establish process controls for SPC and develop process related OCAPs
- Develop and manage PFMEA risk assessments to prioritize process improvement projects
- Debug process integration issues to ensure interactions between processes are controlled
- Build process documentation to define the process for cross-functional teams
- Model holistic process costs using a bottoms-up system approach
