Job description
This position is part of Tesla's Engineering Test Team, focusing on component and system level testing of various vehicle systems from concept to program release. The role requires the ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines. Candidates will engage in hands-on testing and collaborate closely with engineers to support design validation and test planning. Multiple roles are available, including areas such as camera integration, closures, and interiors testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong engineering fundamentals
- Test experience from school projects, internships, or other relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems
- Experience with sensors and data acquisition systems
- Experience with CAD and fixture design
- Experience with programming and test automation
Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on component and system level R&D including characterization, reliability, and durability testing
- Work directly with reliability and design engineers to support Design Validation Plan development
- Develop test fixtures using CAD and collaborate with labs for fixture fabrication
- Conduct detailed inspections to identify and root cause failures
- Write necessary scripts to automate testing
- Conduct data acquisition and instrumentation of sensors
- Investigate test failures and make detailed test reports
- Collaborate closely with test technicians, instrumentation, CAE, reliability and design teams
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in a dynamic environment
