Job description

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Industrial Engineer to join their Gigafactory Texas team. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing systems through value stream mapping, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills in work measurement and operational research methods, contributing to the efficiency of production lines. The position emphasizes continuous improvement and effective resource management to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • 2+ years of experience in work measurement and continuous improvement activities with knowledge of lean production.
  • Experience conducting detailed analysis for process layout design, production line design, or warehouse design.
  • Proficient in discrete event simulation software such as FlexSim, Anylogic, or Plant Simulation.
  • Proficient in 2D/3D layout software including AutoCAD, Revit, or Solidworks.
  • Ability to implement lean production methodologies at scale, including 5S, Six Sigma, SMED, CI, Standardization, and VSM.
  • Proficient in work measurement tools such as MTM, Modapts, or MOST.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to gain buy-in from diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support new and sustaining production line requirements, including layout management and material flow optimization.
  • Conduct work measurement, utilization analysis, and line balancing for both new products and stable production.
  • Manage production takt time and develop standard Labor Hours per Unit.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to optimize manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, refine, and train standardized Industrial Engineering workflows and procedures.
  • Provide high-quality decision support using discrete event simulation and linear programming.
