The AI Engineer Development Engineer in Test role at Apple focuses on validating and advancing location algorithms that power various Apple products. The position is part of the Sensing and Connectivity team, which aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of location services. The engineer will work on building AI-native tooling and workflows to improve the quality of location datasets. This role involves collaboration across hardware, apps, and platform teams to deliver AI-driven experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building and shipping ML or AI systems, in production or through significant project work.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks, quality metrics, and test infrastructure.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with proficiency in Python.
- Understanding of A-GNSS protocols and multi-constellation GNSS operation.
- Familiarity with distributed compute platforms and large-scale data infrastructure.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Build agentic data pipelines to curate and quality-check location datasets.
- Define benchmarks that measure model quality, reliability, and real-world positioning behavior.
- Own the quality bar for location features.
- Partner across hardware, apps, and platform teams to ship AI-driven experiences.
- Design experiments and run validation campaigns to ensure location algorithms meet Apple's standards.
