Job description

The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role involves overseeing the testing and validation of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. The CxE will work within a diverse team to ensure construction quality aligns with engineering designs and customer requirements. This position requires collaboration with vendors, contractors, and various teams to address technical issues and manage project timelines. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and sharing lessons learned to enhance team performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years of relevant discipline work experience
  • 1+ years of project delivery experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project)
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in high-stress environments
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
  • Ability to read and edit construction documents such as design drawings and specifications
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components

Responsibilities

  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Review design documents and equipment submittals for compliance
  • Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors
  • Audit commissioning vendors’ activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
  • Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager
  • Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across AWS engineering and contractor teams
  • Communicate lessons learned upon project completion to assist peers on similar projects
  • Participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program
