Job description
The Sr. Battery Engineer will be a key member of the battery product excellence team at Rivian, focusing on the development and production of high voltage battery packs. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to collaborate across various teams to resolve manufacturing issues and drive continuous design improvements. The ideal candidate will leverage their engineering expertise to enhance production processes and ensure the quality of battery components. This position offers an opportunity to grow in the electro-mechanical space while contributing to Rivian's mission of creating emissions-free vehicles.
Requirements
- 3+ years of work experience in battery, automotive, aerospace, or related industries.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline at minimum.
- Previous experience with product launches, production schedules, and release engineering.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on core engineering principles.
- Mechanical engineering experience required, with electronics or controls experience being a plus.
- Knowledge of battery behavior and high voltage safety.
- Experience with issue tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site design engineering support for high voltage battery assemblies and components.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, process, and quality teams to resolve production issues.
- Drive resolution of design-oriented production line issues using problem-solving techniques.
- Implement manufacturing process and supplier improvements based on field failures.
- Communicate lessons learned from serial production to product development teams.
- Lead DFMEA change efforts and ensure proper linkage to PFMEA and control plans.
- Prepare and support rework plans and validate rework requirements.
- Coordinate builds for prototype, pilot, and start of production activities.
