Job description

Arcadis is seeking a General Superintendent/Assistant Resident Engineer to join their construction management team in the NYC Metropolitan Area. The role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong background in construction management and municipal infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing the on-site team for the construction of a new boiler building at a NYCHA development in Brooklyn, NY. This position offers an opportunity to work with one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.

Requirements

  • 5 years or more of experience in construction management, with at least 2 years as a General Superintendent or Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC Metro Public agencies.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
  • Preferred: New York Professional Engineer License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of day-to-day construction management services, including resident engineering and contractor oversight.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule, and overall responsiveness to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Engage proactively in the contractor's planning and execution of work to foresee and resolve design/construction issues.
  • Review the contractor's CPM schedule and other schedule documentation, providing comments and analysis.
  • Manage and mentor inspection staff in monitoring contractor performance, quality, schedule, and safety.
  • Assist with the change order process, including preparation, estimation, and negotiation.
  • Serve as a liaison to design staff to respond to contractor's RFIs and review shop drawings.
  • Coordinate construction activities with NYCHA's existing housing development needs.
