Job description

The role involves working as an engineer at AWS Ground Station, focusing on the technical challenges of delivering reliable space data from customers' vehicles to the AWS cloud. The team is dedicated to innovation in satellite ground communication, supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment. Candidates will engage in continuous learning and mentorship while collaborating with vendors and AWS engineering teams. This position requires a US Citizen and offers opportunities for career growth within a supportive team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience supporting highly available environments, both locally and in the cloud.
  • Experience across all aspects of satellite ground processing, networks, and radio frequency spectrum.
  • Experience deploying and operating a world-wide network of fully-articulating ground station antennas operating in S and X Bands.
  • 5+ years of satellite communications ground systems and operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with vendors and AWS engineering teams to discover and implement the latest technologies.
  • Deeply own the deployment, operation, and maintenance of antenna systems around the world with less than 25% travel.
  • Identify gaps in functionality or capabilities and create solutions to solve them.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure customers' needs are being met.
  • Educate peers through mentorship and coaching to create a lasting positive impact.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
